A new place of worship is ready to open its doors this Saturday (January 27) with a special event at the recently erected Kingdom Hall at Bilbster.

Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) will be on site to give you a warm welcome from 11am until 3pm on Saturday and show you how the effort put into building the new hall has paid off.

Dave Edwards, a JW representative who helped build the structure at the side of the A882, said: "Many may have wondered just what’s been going on at Bilbster.

"A crisp contemporary building using state of the art materials and 21st century technology has gradually appeared over a remarkably short period of time – the majority of the work being carried out by unpaid volunteers who came from far and wide at their own expense. How and why does this happen? Just how do you coordinate so many willing volunteers not just country-wide but globally? What flood prevention methods have been employed on the site?

"Questions like these and many more will be answered informally over tea/coffee and biscuits during our open day.

"Of course, all are welcome to our meetings at any time, but our open day will be a little different, not a religious meeting but an opportunity for an informal get together with our lovely neighbours up here in Caithness.

"Please try and drop by for a few minutes."
