A right royal glass creation as Ian opens his Thurso studio to the public
Ian Pearson has produced countless unique designs in his many years as a glass artist, but his latest effort can truly be described as his crowning glory.
With the Queen's Platinum Jubilee coming up this weekend, Ian will be opening the doors to his Thurso glass studio so that members of the public can see him working on his current sculpture – based on a crown.
He sees it as a novel way of jointly celebrating the International Year of Glass and Her Majesty's 70-year reign.
Ian will be performing his glassblowing demonstration on Friday, between 3pm and 5pm, at his studio in Riverside Road.
"I am willing to invite a selection of those interested to have a go themselves," he said. "This will be dependent on following appropriate health and safety measures, and that those under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult."
Further details are available by emailing him at ian.pearson1@tiscali.co.uk

Ian set up his studio, Glass Creations, in 1990 and continues to work there as a creative glass artist.
He recently gave two interviews to the Wick Society's oral history project, Wick Voices – one about his glass art work and one about the Society of Caithness Artists, of which he is chairman. These recordings can be heard at www.wickheritage.org/voices.php
