Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) is teaming up with the John O’Groats Book Festival to celebrate 100 years of Duncansby Head Lighthouse.
On March 15 this year, the Caithness lighthouse will see its 100th anniversary and LAC is working with the book festival to bring the public "a jam-packed long weekend of events to celebrate".
The main event will take place every evening at Duncansby Head in the form of an extra special immersive film and lighting installation, which will see the 100-year-old lighthouse come to life. LAC has been out filming on location and working with Crossroads, Canisbay and Castletown primary schools to help create the content for the projections.
LAC’s Calvin Wilson said: "We’re delighted to be involved in such a prestigious event and we cannot wait to see this iconic building lit up in all its glory."
LAC will also be taking over John O’Groats across the entire weekend with talks, walks, workshops and music planned in various locations – some events require booking and space is limited.
The festival will take place from Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 17. The full programme of events can be found on LAC’s website: lytharts.org.uk/events/category/duncansby-lighthouse-centenary/list/
LAC is supported by Historic Environment Scotland, Stroupster Windfarm Fund, The Northern Lighthouse Board and Creative Scotland with special thanks to the John O’Groats Development Trust
