A CRIME spree which has seen commercial properties targeted in Ross-shire and Sutherland has sparked a police appeal for information.

Eight separate incidents of high value tools and machinery being stolen have been reported in the Lairg, Invergordon and Evanton areas since April 14.

"Large volumes" of oil and diesel have also been stolen by the thieves.

And police have issued an appeal for information that may help catch the culprits before they strike again.

Detective Sergeant Christopher Robertson said: “I would ask anyone who may have seen anyone looking suspicious or any vehicles not local to the area to get in touch with us. These thieves are damaging property and stealing items of high value. The loss of these tools impacts heavily on the ongoing work at these sites. If you have any information about these thefts, please contact us.”

The incidents all took place between Friday, April 14 and Sunday, April 30. Fencing was vandalised and damaged as the thieves forced their way into the sites. Given some of the locations, officers also believe those responsible are using 4x4 vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference number CR/50609/23. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
