£500K+ celebration at Pentland Hotel in Thurso for Macmillan fundraisers

There were smiles all round when the Macmillan Cancer Support Thurso Fundraising Group recently got together at the Pentland Hotel to celebrate raising over £500,000 for the cancer charity.

They were joined by senior relationship fundraising manager, Shirlie Geddes, who presented them with a certificate to mark the occasion. Shirlie said: “This is an amazing achievement and we are very grateful to our Thurso fundraisers who really do represent community fundraising at its very best.

"The money they have raised over the years has made a real difference to the lives of people living with cancer and means that we are able to do whatever it takes to provide the practical, emotional and financial support which is needed now more than ever."

Sheila Sinclair who has been the secretary of the group for 23 years and has been on the committee for almost 50 years said: "I am absolutely delighted that our team has reached the half-a-million pound stage and we would like to sincerely thank everyone for their continued support and generosity as we continue on our fundraising mission to raise vital funds for this much needed and worthy charity"
