Eighty-five youngsters enjoyed two days of coaching when the Rangers Soccer Academy came to the Dammies in Thurso.

Coaches Connor Durrant and Curtis Rose joined Rangers ambassador Marvin Andrews for the sessions hosted by AG Coaching.

They welcomed children in three age groups – two to four, five to nine and 10-16.

Players of the day were selected by Marvin Andrews and they received an AG Coaching hoodie for their efforts.

Connor and Curtis were each presented with an engraved AG Coaching glass made by Derek Polson from Halkirk.

The event was sponsored by Dounreay Communities Fund, Eileen Manson and Robbie Fraser.

Marvin played for Rangers, Raith Rovers and Livingston among other clubs and earned 101 caps for Trinidad and Tobago.

AG Coaching was launched last year by Alyn Gunn, who has won praise from many in the football community in Scotland and beyond for his work as head of coaching at Thurso Football Academy.

“We had a fantastic time over the two days with coaches from Rangers and the club ambassador Marvin Andrews,” Alyn said.

“The number of children who continue to come along to our events shows that there is a demand for putting these on, and it’s clear to see that the standard of player is rising in Caithness – which is great.”

Alyn added: “This lines us up well for another big one with Manchester United coaches Neil Scott and Neil Gittins coming north this weekend for another sold-out event.”

Billed as “A Premier League Experience”, this weekend’s sessions will also take place at the Dammies and are for the same three age groups.
