Wick High School’s S2 netball team produced a “fantastic” display to see off Albyn School from Aberdeen in the last 16 of the Scottish Schools Cup.

The Wick girls made a slightly nervy start to the game, played in Inverness on Wednesday. But they quickly settled into it and led the first half 11-5 before going on to seal a 24-9 victory.

Coach Laura Bain said: “Each player worked hard throughout and showed off some fantastic netball across all areas of the court.

“A special mention to Izzy Alexander, who received player of the match for her tireless efforts in centre position, linking up brilliantly between defence and attack.

“The girls now progress into the quarter-finals of the competition.”
