Wick darts league pairs title goes to Old Smiddy Inn duo





Old Smiddy Inn duo Graham Crowe and Richard Thain lifted the Wick and District Darts League pairs title for first division teams, defeating Willie Plank and Kevin Donald (Castletown Poachers) in a cliffhanger of a decider.

Losing semi-finalists were Kevin and Marc Macgregor (Seaview), beaten 3-2 by Thain and Crowe, and Ryan Campbell and Jordan Oag (Seaview and unattached), who went down 3-0 to the Castletown duo.

Jordan Howden and Tam Sutherland, representing the Mountain Dew, were 3-1 winners over Michael Sinclair and Logan Moodie (Smiddy “3”) in the second division competition.

Losing semi-finalists were Sandy Robertson and George Baker (Harper’s “C”) and the Comm duo of Raymond Gunn and Ian McDonald.

Willie Plank hit the only ton-plus finish of the night on 102.

There were six maximums, from Logan Moodie (Smiddy “4”), Ryan Campbell (Seaforth), Saulius Kazakauskas (Norseman), Jordan Oag (unattached), Aidan Sutherland (Castletown Poachers) and Sandy Robertson (Harper’s “C”).

The competition in the Seaforth Highlanders’ Club had an entry of 50.

Three Wick players made their debuts for the Highland darts team versus Moray.

Aidan Sutherland beat Glen Parsons 4-2, Sammie Campbell won 3-2 against Helen Adams and Morgan Perry went down 3-1 to Jill Sharp.

The result was Moray 7, Highland 17.

Sammie’s brother Ryan Campbell is also part of the 34-strong Highland team for the 2024/25 season.
