Caithness ladies' netball team were triumphant in their first game in the Highland and Moray league against last year's third-place side, the Ospreys.

From the start of the game, played in Inverness Royal Academy, Caithness dominated their opponents from Grantown and took an early lead in the first quarter.

Strong defending from Jill Clark, Eva Stewart and Nicola Donn – making her debut for the team – forced many turnovers from the Ospreys which led to a 7-4 end to the first quarter.

The start of the second quarter saw Caithness’s shooting circle, made up of Laura Bain and Sarah Donn, go from strength to strength.

Caithness went into the start of the second half with a promising lead. Connections between mid-court players Megan Love, Seonaid Macdonald and Mia Bain became stronger as the game went on.

Caithness maintained their lead and got the three points through a 40-15 win.

Mia Bain was named as player of the match.

Caithness ladies train at Thurso High School games hall every Tuesday from 7.30-9.30pm and new players are always welcome.
