THERE was an excellent entry of more than 50 for the Thurso Ladies' Open.
The course was in good condition but a brisk breeze provided an additional challenge.
All four Caithness clubs were represented, both Orkney clubs, Golspie and Durness from Sutherland, Whalsay from Shetland and Castletown on the Isle of Man.
The first scratch trophy was won by Eleanor Tunn (5) from Reay, with a score of 77. Second scratch with 80 was Laura Durrand (6), with Reay’s Pam Bain (11) third.
The first nett cup, with a three-under-par score of 68, was won by Anne Macrae (12) from Golspie. Sarah Meiklejohn (21) was runner-up with nett 72 by virtue of the better inward half from Marion Mackay (13), of Wick.
The better inward half was also required to determine fourth spot after Emma Durrand (17) and Angela Williamson (21) both had nett 75. Emma got the nod.
Shona Slater (14) from Stromness was the best of those who scored nett 78, with Eileen Manson (8) and Carol Paterson (12), of Reay, next. On 79 were Ida Seator (Stromness), Maureen Johnston (Wick), Alison Campbell, Sara Brindle (Castletown) and Lorna MacMillan (Lybster).
The longest drive prize went to Laura Durrand. Nearest the pin on the 14th hole was Audrey Poke from Stromness.
