Tunn and Bain secure the silverware in Texas Pairs at Reay

The latest golf action at Reay saw the ladies and gents competing in a Texas Pairs competition and some low scores were posted on a bright and breezy day on the links.

Finishing on top of the standings were Eleanor Tunn and Pam Bain after an excellent round of 67 for nett 63. Birdies at the fifth and ninth holes and a spectacular eagle at the sixth helped them reach the turn in 31, and after another birdie at the 14th they came home in 36 to secure the silverware.

The in-form Wayne Mowat combined nicely with Gavin Gunn but they had to settle for second place after a round of 68 for nett 64. Birdies at the fifth, sixth, ninth and 14th holes helped them to secure the runners-up spot.

Evan Sutherland and youngster Arran Johnson took the final place on the podium after a brace of birdies at the sixth and eighth holes helped them to a round of 70 for nett 65.

Carol Paterson and Colin Paterson were edged into fourth place on countback after they also carded nett 65 following a round of 69 which included birdies at the first, third and 16th holes.

Round 11 of the Winter League Stableford was played in windy conditions, with Simon Harper mastering the weather the best to post a winning score of 32 points following a round of 82 which included birdies at the fifth and seventh holes.

Kenny Farmer Snr took second place on 30 points, with Kenny Farmer Jnr finishing third and Sandy Chisholm fourth.

In the overall standings Kenny Farmer Jnr remains the man to catch with a six-round aggregate score of 225. Kenny Farmer Snr lies a distant second on 199, with Sandy Chisholm third on 192.

In the latest action in the seniors' Stableford competition Graham Harness topped the leaderboard with an excellent haul of 40 points. David R Craig finished three points further back on 37 points, with Jack Johnstone taking third on 36.

Two players, Evan Sutherland and Mike Halliday, finished point further back after both posted scores of 35.
