THE best performers on the water last season were honoured at the annual Pentland Firth Yacht Club dinner and prize-giving earlier this month.

In a break with recent tradition, the event was held in the clubhouse at Scrabster with the three-course dinner prepared by one of the members.

The evening provided a chance for members and friends to relive the exploits of the past year and to share their plans for the coming season while boosting club funds.

In this Olympic year the club will be seeking to capitalise on the performance of Team GB on the water, of which there are high expectations, and the raised profile of sailing in the UK.

The cups were presented by sailing secretary Malcolm Lord to winners Barbara Newson, Chris Hill, Janet Nicoll, Marjory Lord, Guy Newson, Geoff Henstridge and Jonathan Sinclair.

Anyone interested in joining in the club’s activities, whether it is dinghy sailing or powerboat driving, can contact PFYC at info@pentlandfirthyachtclub.org.uk
