Thurso teenager one of 11 players named to have signed a new contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Thurso teenager Sam Reid has signed a new contract with League One outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The striker, who turned 17 last month, was named as one of 11 players awarded a new contract as the club released a squad update.
Reid, who has been part of Caley Thistle’s youth system since 2022, has agreed to a new one-year deal to remain at the Caledonian Stadium.
He signed a one-year contract in October, just three weeks before the club went into administration.
Reid was named in the first team squad for the first time when he was an unused substitute away to Cove Rangers in November when Inverness won 2-1.
He was named on the bench in a number of matches for Caley Thistle last season.
Reid attended Pennyland Primary School before going to Thurso High School. He caught the attention of Caley Thistle at a coaching camp hosted by Alyn Gunn’s Thurso Football Academy.
He was also part of Caithness United, the youth football club founded more than 25 years ago with the aim of developing young footballers from the county.
In his last season with Caithness United, Reid scored 46 goals in 17 games. His prolific form up front has continued in Caley Thistle youth teams.
His father is former Thurso manager Stevie Reid.
Caley Thistle finished in seventh place in League One in the season just finished, despite having a 15-point deduction for going into administration in October.
However, they could move out of administration this week when administrators BDO are set to hold a vote on a company voluntary arrangement over Inverness businessman Alan Savage’s £800,000 bid to take over the club.
