Thurso host Caithness and Sutherland Intercounty as two home club teams compete for trophies





Thurso held the 2024 Caithness and Sutherland Intercounty, which sees clubs from across the two regions compete in strokeplay and stableford formats.

Each team has four members, with the best three scores counting towards their total.

Scratch and handicap trophies were up for grabs, with the former played over a strokeplay format and the nett trophy played over a stableford format.

Dornoch claimed victory in the scratch leaderboard, with their team of Alison Bartlett, Emme Stevenson, Vivien Blacker and Zara Macdonald returning a score of 253.

That was a way clear of second-placed Brora, who saw Ella Macgregor, Deirdre Macangus, Ellen Kroon and Anne Clarke score 267.

In the nett standings, Golspie 2’s Caroline Logie, Betty Bulloch, Avril Haughton and Pat Till were victorious on 97 points.

Thurso 3 were just behind, with Alison Campbell, Anne Simmonite, Fiona McLeod and Amanda Snashall scoring 96.

Thurso’s strength in depth was on show, as Thurso 1 claimed third place as Mollie O’Brien, Emma Durrand, Eileen Manson and Aileen Simmonite scored 94 points.
