Thurso claim outdoor bowling league honours with Munro Shield victory
With the outdoor bowling season now drawing to a close, Thurso Bowling Club have been crowned as this year’s Caithness Bowling Association Munro Shield league winners.
In a special presentation, the shield was presented to Thurso by County President David Coull.
Representing last year’s winners, Rosebank, was the club’s vice-president Donald Banks, who joined Mr Coull in presenting the trophy and flag to Douglas Morrison, president of Thurso Bowling Club.
After six matchday weeks, Thurso claimed the Shield with 55 points and a +83 shot difference on the board, five points ahead of Rosebank.
St Fergus finished in third place with 49 points.
A close fought match between Thurso and Rosebank on Tuesday, August 20 saw the home club win 8-6 to secure league honours.
