THURSO came out on top in the Caithness derby to close the gap on league leaders Invergordon to four points after coming from behind to beat Halkirk United.

Halkirk took the lead at The Dammies when Kyle Henderson found the net after 15 minutes.

But James McLean levelled for the Vikings three minutes later.

Ben Sinclair gave Thurso the winner with 20 minutes remaining, in the first senior game of football in Caithness since December.

League leaders Invergordon could only draw 1–1 in Orkney as Thurso move to within four points of the Ross-shire outfit.

Thurso could win the league if they win their final four games, two of which are against Invergordon, but would also require Golspie Sutherland to drop points.
