Sutherland races into Caithness club's top position

IN Caithness Cycling Club’s latest 10-mile time trial there were no fewer than three personal bests achieved and a total of five riders who clocked their best this year.
On a fine, sunny evening Allan Sutherland took first place with his first 25 mph ride and a PB by 22 seconds.
There were also PBs for second equal Darren Bain and for 13-year-old Joe Spencer, whose father, Dave, had a season’s best by 52 seconds.
Triathlete Mark Taylor clocked a fine 25 min 5 sec at his first attempt on the course and Dave Morrill recorded his best of the year by 26 seconds. Sixteen-year-old Rob Murdoch led in the under-18s with a speedy 25 min 19 sec.

In the handicap league Sutherland leapfrogged Roger Broughton into the top place with Bain close behind.

The club’s 50-mile time trial, due for last Sunday, was postponed due to the stormy weather, but it is hoped to reschedule for a date in September.
