The firm and fiery conditions coupled with warm weather provided the platform for some excellent scoring at Reay Golf Club during the most recent action.

After an outward nine of level par, which included a birdie at the sixth, Ross produced some sublime golf to cover the back nine in a mere 30 shots for a total of 64. He was helped along the way by birdies at the 10th, 11th and 16th and a rare eagle at the par-four 13th hole.

John O’Brien had to settle for third place after an excellent tally of 40 points which included four birdies at the eighth, 13th, 16th and 18th holes. Fred Groves took fourth place on 39 points, with a birdie at the 13th providing the highlight.

The President’s Salver also saw some excellent scoring, with Lee Parnell enjoying a return to the winner’s enclosure after an excellent round of 70 gave him a nett 66.

Parnell’s halves of 33 and 37 included birdies at the fourth, ninth and 13th holes.

Steve Efemey took second place on nett 67 after a round of 78 that included birdies at the seventh and 14th holes.
