Struthers and Paterson are November medal winners at Reay
Saturday saw the ladies and gents competing for their respective November medals over a windswept Reay links.
Sylvia Struthers bagged the ladies’ medal after a superb birdie at the tough seventh hole helped her to a winning score of nett 67. Halves of 45 and 48 gave Alison Ross a score of 93 for a solid nett 71 and second place.
A birdie at the final hole helped Sarah Meiklejohn to third place after a round of 88 for nett 77.
Colin Paterson posted the lowest gross score of the day, an excellent round of 74, to take the men’s medal courtesy of a score of nett 68.
Andrew Taylor and Malcolm Thomson were edged into second and third places respectively on countback after they also posted fine scores of nett 68. Jack Johnstone finished in fourth place on nett 69.
In the latest North Point Distillery Senior Stableford action, a good back nine allowed Sandy Cumming to take victory on a score of 34 points. A birdie at the ninth helped Sandy Chisholm take second place on countback after he also finished on 34 points.
A birdie at the seventh helped Willie Steven to a tally of 33 and third place, with Donald Mowat matching his total to take fourth.
This Saturday will see the women playing in round two of their Winter Stableford competition, while the men will be competing in round two of the Winter Eclectic.
On Sunday the men and women will be back in Winter League Stableford action.
