Wick Academy's management team will have a final assessment of the squad ahead of the new Highland League season when the Scorries take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle under-20s tonight on the all-weather pitch at Dingwall.

It will be Wick's last warm-up game before the opening 2021/22 league fixture away to Forres Mechanics on Saturday.

“There are still positions up for grabs so we will definitely be having a look at different options available to us," Academy manager Gary Manson said.

“We're carrying a few little niggles this week so hopefully they will clear up. We'll go down with a competitive squad."

Academy’s pre-season games have included a 3-2 win at Thurso and a 4-0 victory over an Orkney AFA select in Kirkwall.

After the trip to Forres, Academy are on the road again on July 31 to take on Strathspey Thistle before their first home fixture on August 7 against Clachnacuddin.

Meanwhile, one of the most prolific scorers in Highland League history – Keith striker Cammy Keith – has decided to hang up his boots at the age of 34.

He scored a club record 263 goals for Keith in 336 appearances after making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2004. Keith also enjoyed a successful spell at Formartine United, and starred for the Binghamton University team in America’s New York state.
