Steven Cup holders Swifts are knocked out by Halkirk

Halkirk set up a Steven Cup semi-final against Keiss after knocking out the holders, Swifts, 4-1 on aggregate.

After a 1-1 draw on Friday, Halkirk won 3-0 at the Dammies on Monday night thanks to goals from Rory Taylor, Dale Sutherland and Owen Cannop. Swifts finished with 10 men after Alan Murray was sent off.

Tony Miller’s penalty gave Keiss, the second division leaders, a 1-0 victory at home to Watten and a 4-3 aggregate success.

The other semi-final is a Thurso derby between Acks and Pentland, the latter having received a bye.

Acks won 3-2 against Top Joe’s on Monday to progress 5-3 on aggregate.

Marc Keith, Scott Bell and John Hooker scored for Acks, with Scott Mowat and Ali Macdonald on target for Top Joe’s.

The semi-finals will also be played over two legs.

Results – Highland Amateur Cup, quarter-finals: High Ormlie Hotspur 3, Black Rock Rovers 1; Pentland United 2, Ness 1; Sleat and Strath 2, Avoch 3; Stornoway Athletic 4, Helmsdale United 0.

Steven Cup, quarter-finals, second leg: Keiss 1, Watten 0 (Keiss win 4-3 on aggregate); Swifts 0, Halkirk 3 (Halkirk win 4-1 on aggregate); Top Joe’s 2, Acks 3 (Acks win 5-3 on aggregate).

Fixtures – Tuesday, July 16 – CAFA Division One: Lybster v Castletown; Wick Groats v John O’Groats (both 7.30pm).

Wednesday, July 17 – CAFA Division One: Pentland United v Staxigoe United; Wick Thistle v High Ormlie Hotspur (both 7.30pm).

Thursday, July 18 – Steven Cup, semi-final, first leg: Acks v Pentland (7.15pm).

Friday, July 19 – Steven Cup, semi-final, first leg: Halkirk v Keiss (7.15pm).

Saturday, July 20 – Archer Shield: Caithness v Orkney (Castletown, 2pm).
