WICK Academy boss Tom McKenna paid tribute to Michael Steven and Danny Mackay after the pair reached significant landmarks in Saturday's victory at Lossiemouth.

Mackay opening the scoring in what was his 100th Highland League game for Academy, and it also was a special occasion for Steven as he made his 200th league appearance for the club.

Steven, who had a brief spell at Brora, has been a rock in the Academy defence for a decade now.

Mackay is also a Brora old boy, having also played for county league side Castletown, and has made great strides at Academy these past few seasons.

McKenna said: "In the time that I've been here, I've found both Michael and Danny really fantastic to work with.

"They are two honest lads who are fully committed and good footballers who are also very brave defenders. They're also great to work with in training as they treat each session like a match itself.

"I'd like to say well done to them for reaching their respective landmarks and I hope there are many more appearances from both of them to come."

Academy are in Friday night action this week as they entertain Forres Mechanics in the Highland League Cup.
