HAVING won the Wick and District Darts League men’s first division championship in four of the last five years, Seaview look to be real contenders once again.

The title was taken from them last season by Martin Nicolson’s Francis Street Club who now represent Harper’s.

The team from John O’Groats defeated Queen’s in their first away fixture of the campaign.

Elsewhere the Seaforth club beat the Smiddy Inn with Ronnie Plowman in breathtaking form. He hit two maximums and matched David Miller’s checkout of 155 the previous week. This takes Plowman to six maximums for the season, with Rab Edwards in second place with three.

The Park Hotel got their first win and Harper’s “B” put Castletown to the sword.

In the second division George McPhee, Sandy Robertson, Steven Hutton and John Gunn are sitting on top for Harper’s after winning against Sinclair Bay. Andy Cormack’s Harper’s “C” side were held by Harry Macbeath’s Smiddy “4” for the first men’s drawn game.

Ryan Campbell hit a maximum in his Smiddy “2” side’s victory over the fancied Norseman.

In the ladies’ division there was a humdinger of a game between last season’s top two, Queen’s and Seaforth, which ended all square.

But Rona Young and Kara Sutherland both hit maximums and both lost their singles. Kara was the star performer with also 140 x 2 and numerous high scores.

But it is the Sinclair Bay that top the table with two wins from two.
