ROYAL Dornoch Golf Club has been selected to host the Vagliano and Junior Vagliano Trophies in 2023.
The R&A announced the course will host the contest by women’s and girls’ teams flying the flag for Great Britain and Ireland against Europe in June and July next year.
The announcement comes as the course prepares to welcome 300 competitors taking part in The R&A Women’s and Men’s Senior Amateur Championships from Tuesday, July 5 to Friday, July 8.
The tournaments announced for next summer are also prestigious events on the calendar.
Unveiling the amateur golf schedule for 2023 and 2024, Phil Anderton, chief development officer at The R&A, said Royal Dornoch is an excellent venue to host these international golf tournaments.
“We want to reinforce The R&A’s amateur championships and international matches as pinnacle events in global elite amateur golf and attract the best players from across the world to compete.
“It is fitting to have our championships hosted at some of the world’s finest venues over the next two years.
“Continuing to stage some of our most notable amateur championships for both male and female players at the same time also allows us to showcase and promote the sport for all.”
Royal Dornoch general manager Neil Hampton has welcomed the news that the course will continue to host international golf competitions.
“We are thrilled to be working once again with the team at The R&A, said Hampton.
“In selecting Royal Dornoch to host these matches we appreciate the recognition given to our Championship Course as being amongst the best in the world.
