Reay Golf Club: Dedication pays off for Moar in Rotary Club Open
Saturday saw Reay host the annual Rotary Club Open for both women and men, with some fine scores recorded in the autumn sunshine.
Liam Moar has been practising hard over the summer months and his dedication paid off after he took the silverware with a fantastic tally of 44 Stableford points.
Four pars at the fifth, ninth, 12th and 14th holes were the highlights of a solid round which secured victory by a stunning seven points.
Graeme Dunnett rolled back the years to fire an excellent round of 71 for a score of 37 points, with birdies at the sixth and 16th helping him to second place.
A crucial birdie at the final hole helped Colin Chessor to take third place on his own after a solid round of 80 for 36 points.
Alex Anderson had a birdie at the 16th as he claimed fourth place on countback on 35 points ahead of Willie Steven and Joy Fraser, who both had steady rounds.
Meanwhile, in the latest North Point Distillery Senior Stableford action, a brace of birdies at the sixth and ninth helped Alex Anderson to an impressive winning tally of 38 points.
Murdo Macdonald took second place on 37 points after halves of 42 and 44, with a rare birdie at the second helping Malcolm Thomson to third on 34. Donald Mowat finished in fourth place on 33 points after a good back nine that included six pars.
This Saturday will see the ladies compete in round one of their Winter Stableford competition, while the men will be playing in round one of their Winter Eclectic.
On Sunday both the ladies and gents will be able to play in the Winter League Stableford competition.
The following Saturday, November 2, the club hosts the Ronnie Campbell Open for teams of four players. There are some great prizes up for grabs in the event, with the money raised going to local cancer charities.
