Queen's Hotel have been crowned as champions of the ladies' division in Wick and District Darts League following their 7-1 victory over the Camps this week.

Freda Perry, Kara Sutherland, Maggie Sutherland, Morgan Perry and Alison Tait have proved to have a winning blend of experience and youth.

After their surprise defeat the previous week, men's Division One leaders Seaview were away to Seaforth Club, the joint second-placed team.

And it was not plain sailing for the John O'Groats side as Seaforth side raced into a 2-0 advantage with Ronny Plowman beating Kevin Macgregor 3-1 and David Bain also having a 3-1 victory over James Howden.

But a spirited fightback was on the cards as Calum Shearer defeated John Macphee 3-1 and the ever-reliable Stewart Tait won against young Ryan Campbell, also 3-1.

The pairs went to the away side with 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 2-0 scorelines – leaving Andrew Mowat with the champagne on ice at the Seaview Hotel, as Harper's “B” were held to a draw by Rab Edwards and Hughie Duncan's Queen's side.

Castletown got their first win, against Park, and David Miller's Smiddy Inn side inflicted a first defeat of 2020 on Queen's “2” who had been the form team. Kevin Donald has been the rock in the Queen's “2” line-up this season and he defeated Smiddy's Alan Harper 3-0.

Men's Division Two is there for the taking with no fewer than five sides in the title race. Harper's lead with 20 points, with Norseman on 19 but having a game in hand.

Only one point behind are Sinclair Bay, also with a game in hand on the leaders. But Smiddy “3” have two games in hand as there was a mix-up by the secretary and they have 17 points.
