Awards for achievements during the year have been handed out to members of the Caithness branch of the Pony Club.
The presentation, usually made at the annual parents' evening, was held prior to the start of the Christmas Show at the indoor school Halkirk on Saturday, December 19.
This year the local branch has also had quite a few members achieving the different test levels offered with Caitlin Flavell being awarded the AH test – the highest test of horsemastership available in the Pony Club. It is a pre-requisite for the ‘A’ test riding.
Awards
Sarah Pottinger Memorial Trophy for merit: Caitlin Flavell for achieving her AH test. Fudge Trophy for endeavour: Emma Coghill for 21 years as a member. Cracker Shield for most improved junior: Ella Budge and Erica Pottinger. Horsemanship Cup for the most improved senior: Ellen Traquair. Caithness Pony Club Sheild for most attendance and Colonel Hildreth horse for senior turnout: Erin Hewitson. James Gunn Cup for junior turnout points: Dylan Sutherland.
Colonel Hildreth Cup for best away from home performance: junior quiz team – Rebecca Cook, Isla Miller, Erica Pottinger and Aimee Holmes.
Best cross-country away from home and Caithness Pony Club Shield for 70cm one-day-event: Leoni Kennedy. Caithness Pony Club Shield for best 80cm one-day-event and best in turnout 14-15 years: Morven Mackenzie.
