Personal bests and medals for Wick swimmers at autumn meet in Inverness
Eight members of Wick Amateur Swimming Club took part in the Highland Swim Team’s autumn meet at the Aquadome in Inverness along with newly qualified coach Russell Angus.
Jack Angus, Jackson Lunn, Davie Swanson, Nebi Senguler, Mikolaj Hutny-Wojcicki, Rona Taylor, Katie Innes and Eva Robertson made up the squad and had a highly successful meet, with every swimmer achieving personal best times as well as some medals.
Jack Angus gained PBs in four out of five, including a whopping 26-second personal best for his 10-12 years 200m breaststroke.
Jackson Lunn swam in eight events and achieved bronze in 10-12 male 100m backstroke, silver in 10-12 male 100m freestyle, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 100m fly and 100m individual medley and gold in 200m IM, as well as an amazing 35-second PB for his 200m breaststroke.
Davie Swanson swam four events and placed in each one. He had bronze in 13/14 male 200m IM, silver in both 13/14 male 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke and gold in 13/14 male 200m backstroke, as well as a clean sweep of PBs.
Nebi Senguler competed in five events in the male 13/14 category, taking gold in each one: 100m IM and breaststroke and 200m breast, fly and IM. In addition to the outstanding medal haul, he saw a 14-second improvement in his 200m fly time.
Mikolaj Hutny-Wojcicki swam five races in the 15-and-over group and made time improvements in four events, including shaving an impressive 17 seconds from his former 200m IM time.
Rona Taylor competed in four events in the female 15-and-over category and secured a new PB for her 100m breaststroke.
Katie Innes was also competing in the 15-and-over category. Out of six swims, Katie came away with five PBs.
Eva Robertson swam in six events in the 15-and-over female group and secured bronze medals in both 100m freestyle and 200m back, but also gold in 100m breaststroke and 200m freestyle and fly – as well as achieving four PBs.
Team manager Sandra Gow said: “It was a fantastic weekend with excellent performances across the board from all swimmers, and some outstanding personal bests. The team support as usual was amazing.”
