THURSO Amateur Swimming Club (Tasc) held its 40th annual open swim meet recently.

Clubs from Wick, Orkney, Tain, Forres, Elgin and Inverness competed alongside 34 swimmers from the Thurso club.

It was a relaxed and fun weekend with lots of swimmers achieving personal bests, meeting up with old friends and making new friends from the other clubs.

Orkney won the Munro Shield for best overall performance on points.

Other shields and trophies went to swimmers from Tain, Elgin, Orkney and Forres.

The Bentley Cup for best Thurso performer went to Shaun Johnston for an amazing 100m backstroke swim in which he took 12 seconds off his previous PB.

Plenty of medals were also won by Tasc swimmers: Erin MacDonald with three silvers, Lucy MacDonald one silver, Alex Mackay one bronze, Jed Armitage one silver and two bronze, Louis Pickering one silver and three bronze, Tom Armitage one bronze and Scott Sutherland one bronze.

Also Tasc swimmers won five silvers and a bronze in the relay events which were very exciting as they were cheered on loudly by the spectators.

All in all it was a great weekend with all the swimmers having improved times.
