EIGHT Reay lady golfers enjoyed good conditions overhead as well as underfoot for the Centenary Bowl Pairs Greensome.

The format is popular as it allows each player in the pair to drive at each tee before choosing which ball to then play, taking alternative shots to the hole.

Alison Ross and Su Hawes won the bowl which was donated to the ladies’ section some years ago by past member Sylvia Mcdonald.

They played the six-par threes dropping only one shot to par to make up for a couple of poor holes on their card.

Their score of 95-22 for a nett 73 just edged out captain Morag Mackay and young Lauren Ross – who was playing her first senior pairs competition – by one stroke.

Alison had been on form the previous weekend when she partnered Donald Mowat to win the Sarwest Mixed Foursome Trophy with an excellent score of 84-14.5, nett 69.5. Runners-up were David Mackay and Maggie Fecitt with a nett 72.5.

Ruth Shallcross won the handicap club championship after a very exciting final against Pam Bain.

Ruth had a handicap allowance of 11 shots and Pam was three down halfway through the inward half but rallied in the last few holes to tie the match on the 18th green.

Ruth finally finished off the match on the 20th green.

Pam won the scratch club championship earlier in the summer, beating Eleanor Tunn on the final green.

Morag Mackay and Pat Owen won the October and November medals with nett scores of 71 and 72.

Carole Cameron and Morag were the winners of the SLGA silver and bronze medals for 2011. They accumulated aggregate best-four nett scores from the designated medal competitions of 277 and 282.
