United are the Highland Amateur Cup holders and they secured their place in this season’s quarter-finals by beating Inverness Athletic 5-3 after extra time last Saturday.

The Dunnet side lifted the Highlands and Islands’ most prestigious football trophy for a record-extending ninth time last year.

The club issued a statement thanking the sponsors.

It said: “Under the ownership of Martin Nicolson, Northern Sands first became a sponsor of the club in 2018 with the donation of run-out tops, marking the beginning of a valued relationship. Since then, the hotel has remained a loyal and generous supporter. This year, we are once again thrilled to receive new run-out tops through their continued backing.

“Renowned for its rich history and first-class service, the hotel continues to be a favourite destination for the club, whether post-match or during our end-of-season events.

“To be associated with such a professionally run and highly regarded establishment is a source of immense pride for everyone connected with Pentland United. We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Martin, and also to Theresa and the entire team at Northern Sands Hotel, for their ongoing support and commitment to the club.

“For the first time in the club’s history, Pentland United has taken delivery of both a home and away kit simultaneously, made possible thanks to the generous support of Blargoans Ltd.

“The Nicolson family has had a long and valued association with the club. Jim Nicolson, through Nicolson Engineering, served as the club’s main sponsor for many years up to 2010. In 2010, Martin Nicolson took over the sponsorship under his own business, Blargoans Ltd, and has continued the same unwavering commitment and support ever since.

“Blargoans Ltd has grown under Martin’s leadership into one of the Highland’s premier suppliers of plant, tools, equipment, transport and personnel. His dedication to both the club and the wider community mirrors that of his late father, and his contribution continues to make a significant impact.

“We are particularly proud to see this enduring partnership further extended with the sponsorship of our new home and away kits. Pentland United is sincerely grateful to Martin and the entire Blargoans team for their continued generosity, loyalty, and belief in the club.”
