NORTH Caledonian League champions Halkirk United will be hoping to make it third time lucky at Wick this season.

It was announced this afternoon their AJG Parcels North of Scotland Cup semi-final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle will be played at Harmsworth Park. The tie will take place on Monday (August 22) at 7.30pm.

United have already caused two huge upsets this season at the stadium by knocking out Highland League opposition.

In the first round, they beat Wick Academy 2-1 thanks to late goals from David Cowie and Paul Mackay.

In their quarter-final tie against Clachnacuddin the match was switched from Halkirk’s Recreation Park to Wick.

A Nigel MacKenzie goal gave United an early lead and Graeme Williamson was outstanding in goal to keep the scores level after 90 minutes.

Alan Sinclair scored the side’s winning penalty in the shootout to set up the club’s biggest game in its history.

The winner of the semi-final will face Forres Mechanics or Nairn County in the final.
