Lots of fun had at Halkirk jumping competition

A fun jumping day held by Caithness Riding Club proved popular with a good number of competitors turning up on Sunday to take part.
As usual there was lots of excitement, particularly in the timed pairs jumping classes which were held instead of the scheduled Top Score competition. A few of the riders were keen to put in some very fast times.
The course for the event was designed by club member Russell Skelton and the club were lucky to have some of the students from the North Highland College equestrian course come along and help out. Winners were delighted to get prizes on the day which were kindly donated by W & A Geddes Ltd, Thurso.
Caitlin Flavell, riding her new young mare Liath, won both the 45-50cm and 55-60cm senior classes. Rowan Lee also secured two wins, one on Teddy in the junior 45-50cm and the other on Pedro in the 85-90cm class. Mary Miller and Poppy were the winners in the senior 85-90cm class and the 95-100cm with a couple of foot perfect rounds.
The jumping competition took place in the outdoor school at Halkirk with the warm up indoors.
