John O’Groats celebrated a league and cup double in this season's Caithness 7s competitions.

They were crowned as league champions and also lifted the Bain and Wade Cup after losing just one game in the whole campaign. Green Road won the other tournament, the Charity Shield.

Caithness 7s chairman Calum Mackay said: "John O’Groats proved over the course of the season that age is not a defining factor – they had bags of experience and quality on show, aided by a second half of the season cameo from Eddie Macgregor.

"Recording only one defeat all season, they showed the consistency and depth of squad required to become champions in a very competitive league.

"I would like to thank everybody that made this difficult and challenging season such a huge success – the clubs, the referees, High Life Highland and of course the players. I hope to see you all again next season."

The new season is open to additional teams. Any team interested in taking part is asked to get in touch via Facebook (Caithness 7s Football).
