Caithness Krakens are centre stage on Saturday as they look to seal the women’s Caley North League 2.

Victory at home to Orkney Dragons would put them in an unassailable position before they complete their depleted campaign with a home fixture against Turriff.

Mike Flavell’s side have racked up four runaway wins, including a 96-3 thrashing of the Dragons in Kirkwall on September 21.

The Dragons have taken maximum points from their three other matches and sit second, five points behind Caithness.

“We’re keen to wrap up the title on Saturday,” Flavell said after Tuesday night’s training session in the indoor riding centre at Halkirk.

Like the men’s first-team coach Cameron Boyd, he wants to turn Millbank into a venue feared by visiting teams.

"We have set ourselves some goals and one is that we want Millbank to become ‘Fortress Millbank’,” Flavell said. “We want to make it difficult for people who come here.

“Another goal is that we would like to keep them scoreless on Saturday.”

Flavell is hoping for a more competitive match.

“It has been difficult to learn much from the games we have played so far,” he said.

“In running up the scores we have been doing, unit and team skills kind of go out of the window.”

Flavell expects to have a 20-strong squad for the match, which kicks off at 1pm.

Susie Smith and Holly Trick will have late fitness checks for shin and ankle complaints respectively.
