LAST Thursday was a good day for Donald Jack as he won the final round of the EGGS Summer Eclectic and also the overall eclectic competition to claim the David Spargo Trophy.

In Thursday’s round, Jack’s gross 74 gave him a total of 36 points to win by three points from Ronnie Gray. Jim Buchan and Alan Simmonite were a further point back

Jack’s winning nett total in the eclectic was 57.5, one shot ahead of Sandy Stewart and Jim Telfer, who clipped off another shot on Thursday to join Stewart in second place. Other leading nett scores were: Ian Manson 59.5, Sandy Wright 60.5, Ronald Mackay and Sandy Reid 61, Bob Black and Bob Robertson 61.5.

The seniors now go on to contest the Winter Stableford off winter tees.

On Saturday the ladies played their October Medal. Winner with a nett 76 was Anne Simmonite. Laura Durrand took second place, thanks to the better inward half, after scoring nett 77, the same as Eileen Manson.

The Navcomsta Ladies Open was played on Sunday. Laura Durrand took first scratch with a score of 81. Best nett was Basia Sandecki, from Lybster, with a 76. Eileen Manson was second with a 78.

Two players, Anne Simmonite and Pam Bain, from Reay, were a shot further back with Simmonite taking third due to the better inward nine holes. Deirdre MacAngus, from Wick, was next best on 80.
