Honours go to Durrand and Simmonite in Thurso Ladies’ Open

Players from Wick, Reay, Lybster, Stromness and Kirkwall joined those from the host club for the Thurso Ladies’ Open, with a total of 49 taking part.

Laura Durrand took the scratch prize and Aileen Simmonite was the handicap winner.

The club thanked Jody Sinclair, of the Captain’s Galley seafood restaurant at Scrabster, for continuing to support the competition and for presenting the trophies.

Results – Scratch: 1st scratch with a nett 74, Laura Durrand (Thurso); 2nd scratch with a nett 74, Rebecca Munro (Reay); 3rd scratch with a nett 74, Dee Macangus (Wick).

Handicap: 1st nett Aileen Simmonite, 72; 2nd nett Michelle Clouston (Orkney), 73; 3rd nett Sandra Rollinson, 76; 4th nett Lyndsay Stott, 76; 5th nett Jean Sutherland and Laura Bain (Reay), both 77.

Longest drive for handicap over 20: Jane Grant. Longest drive for handicap under 20: Laura Bain. Nearest the pin: Dee Macangus.

Two male golfers, James Moodie and William Durrand, supported the ladies on the day.
