The decision was made as a result of improved prospects for spectators being admitted to matches.

At present 11 Highland League clubs in Highland and Moray will be allowed to let in spectators due to being tier one regions. This includes Wick Academy.

However six Aberdeenshire clubs, Deveronvale, Formartine United, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Inverurie Locos and Turriff United are not allowed to let fans in due to being in a tier two region.

No fixtures have been revised as a result of the new start date.

A statement from the Highland League said: "Many details have to be sorted out over the next three weeks, including a revised fixture list. The fixtures and other matchday arrangements will be published as soon as is feasible."

The season was originally meant to start on October 17 but was postponed due to clubs not being allowed to let in fans.
