High Ormlie and Pentland United aiming to reach last four of Highland Amateur Cup

High Ormlie Hotspur and Pentland United will be targeting a place in the last four of the Highland Amateur Cup when they take on Black Rock Rovers and Ness respectively in Saturday’s quarter-finals.

Hotspur, who won the trophy in 2022, have home advantage at Ormlie for their encounter with Black Rock, the first division leaders in the Inverness and District Football Association.

High Ormlie edged out Wick Groats on penalties in the last round.

Pentland United, record eight-times winners of the Highland Amateur Cup, take on Ness, from the Lewis and Harris league, who have won it on four occasions. Their tie is being played at neutral Culbokie and the Stabbies have a bus for players and supporters leaving from Dunnet with pick-ups in Castletown and Thurso.

United had a 6-0 victory over Lybster in the last round.

Hotspur and Stabbies both enjoyed convincing wins on Wednesday night in the first round of the David Allan Shield.

Kuba Koziol scored four as High Ormlie cruised to an 8-0 win at Lybster. There was a double for William Cannop, with the others coming from Aaron Wilson and Kieran Macgregor.

United beat Castletown 4-1 at Ham Park. Allan Munro, James McLean and Sean Campbell (2) were on target for the home side before Castletown’s Josh Sutherland pulled one back.

Goals from Martin Sinclair, Ryan Banks, Craig Kennedy and George Wise gave John O’Groats a 4-0 win at home to Thurso Pentland.
