Tain's David MacCormack and Reay's Gregor Munro took the handicap and scratch honours respectively in the annual Donald Lamont Memorial Open at Wick Golf Club.
The 36-hole tournament was sponsored by the Mackays Hotel, Wick. Murray Lamont, son of the late Donald Lamont, along with his wife Ellie, provided the catering for the event and presented the winners with their trophies and other prizes.
Head greenkeeper Dougie Thorburn and the greens staff were up at the crack of dawn to prepare the Reiss course prior to the first tee-off.
Forty competitors played the 36 holes and another 13 seniors played 18 holes. Up for grabs on the par threes during rounds one and two would be a prize for a hole in one, consisting of either a holiday to Portugal, a weekend break in England, golf clubs or the big one on the ninth hole – £10,000. Unfortunately none of the golfers would claim these prizes.
MacCormack won the handicap shield with a combined nett score of 143, with four birdies during the rounds.
Munro had a combined gross score of 143, which included six birdies throughout, to take the scratch shield.
The senior section was won by Wick's David Brims. He secured the trophy with a nett score of 69, beating fellow Wick competitor John Harper by the better inner half.
