Halkirk shooters retain one-point advantage after drawing with Wick Old Stagers

Halkirk "A" retained their one-point advantage at the top of Division One in the Caithness Small Bore Rifle Association league after drawing with Wick Old Stagers "A" in round nine.

Wick Old Stagers "B" remain two points clear in Division Two, while Division Three sees Halkirk "B" four points ahead of second-placed Clachnacuddin. Stirkoke "C" remain the only unbeaten team in the league after nine rounds, and they are now four points clear of Banff & Macduff "B" in Division Four.

After round five of the Junior Individual League, D Mowat (Pentland) is top of Division One, a point clear of R Levack (Halkirk).

Division Two sees Westfield's J Taylor unbeaten in five matches and leading R Sutherland (Halkirk ) by two points.

Results (shots dropped) – Division One: Pentland “A” 3 beat Stirkoke "A" 16. Individual scores – Pentland: R L O Brown 0, P Richard 0, G Begg 1, D Mowat 2. Stirkoke: I Sutherland 3, S Webster 3, R Innes 5, G Robertson 5.

Wick Old Stagers "A” 7 drew with Halkirk "A" 7. Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: B Young 0, H Simpson 1, D Simpson 3, G Sutherland 3. Halkirk: J G Campbell 0, J Fraser 1, R B Campbell 2, W A Campbell 4.

Watten "A" 10 beat Banff & Macduff "A" 11. Individual scores – Watten: D Bremner 1, J Henderson 2, S Henderson 3, S Mackay 4. Banff & Macduff: W A Copland 1, L Thomson 1, R Murray 4, D Innes 5.

Four shooters in Division One had the top score of 100 – J G Campbell (Halkirk), R L O Brown and P Richard (Pentland) and B Young (Wick Old Stagers).

Division Two: Wick Old Stagers "B” 11 beat Dingwall 16. Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: A W Paul 0, S S Nicolson 3, S Nicolson 4, L Macdonald 4. Dingwall: B Macintosh 2, R H Meiklejohn 3, R C Meiklejohn 4, H Meiklejohn 7.

Bogey (18) beat Orkney 21. Individual scores – Orkney: B Spence 2, D Sinclair 4, A Purchon 6, C Duncan 9.

Dallas 21 beat Watten "B" 29. Individual scores – Dallas: J Anderson 3, K Sutherland 3, N Sutherland 7, G Sutherland 8. Watten: G Bremner 4, D Thomson 6, B Mackay 6, D Thomson Jnr 13.

Top score in Division Two was 100 shot by A W Paul (Wick Old Stagers).

Division Three: Bogey (22) beat Westfield “A” 25. Individual scores – Westfield: M Mackay 4, G A Mackay 4, M Sutherland 8, M Mackenzie 9.

Halkirk “B” 23 beat Stirkoke “B” 30. Individual scores – Halkirk: S Yuille 3, S Blackwood 6, G G Levack 6, T Hawes 8. Stirkoke: G Henderson 3, J M Sutherland 6, R Mackay 8, I Gunn 13.

Pentland “B” 24 beat Clachnacuddin “A” 25. Individual scores – Pentland: J Coghill 3, A Cowe 6, P Gates 7, W D Mowat 8. Clachnacuddin: S Bunn 4, S Stanyer 6, G Smith 6, W Allan 9.

Top score in Division Three was 97 shot by J Coghill (Pentland), S Yuille (Halkirk) and G Henderson (Stirkoke).

Division Four: Stirkoke "C" 20 beat Banff & Macduff “B” 30. Individual scores – Stirkoke: D G Henderson 2, J Hendry 3, J Cameron 7, G Cameron 8. Banff & Macduff: L G Thomson 6, J Lorimer 6, J Ross 7, M Zugaj 11.

Wick Old Stagers “C” 32 beat Nairn 46. Individual scores – Wick Old Stagers: I Simpson 5, C Ronaldson 6, A Tait 8, A Harper 13. Nairn: M Maclennan 8, D Smith 11, I Macpherson 12, S Murray 15.

Bogey (35) beat Pentland “C” 40. Individual scores – Pentland: W D Steven 7, Dan Mowat 8, S Richard 12, A Cormack 13.

Top score in Division Four was 98 shot by D G Henderson (Stirkoke).

Results for Division Five were not available.

Junior Division One: D Mowat (Pentland) 7 drew with I Simpson (Wick Old Stagers) 7; C Mowat (Westfield) 11 beat S Richard (Pentland) 100; R Levack (Halkirk) 15 beat Bogey 16.

Best score in the division was 93 shot by I Simpson and D Mowat.

Junior Division Two: J Taylor (Westfield) 6 beat S Campbell (Halkirk) 12; R Sutherland (Halkirk) 10 beat L Taylor (Westfield) 27; Bogey 25 beat A Bremner (Halkirk) 100.

Best score was 94 by J Taylor.
