Halkirk United threw everything at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but bowed out of the North of Scotland Cup.

Manager Jock Mackay said that his team were a credit to Caithness football as they lost 1-0.

The goal came after 19 minutes when a Tom Smith long ball caught out the Halkirk defence to find Andrew Greig.

His cross found Kyle Whyte who smashed the ball past Graeme Williamson.

Halkirk United came out fighting in the second half and Grant Macnab fired from point-blank range only for Edward Baldy to deny him the equaliser.

The west Caithness side threw caution to the wind in the final 20 minutes and had the ICT youngsters on the ropes.

But Halkirk's glorious cup run came to an end to huge applause from the hundreds who turned out at Harmsworth Park in Wick.
