The Greens are scheduled to host Ellon on Saturday as they continue their drive to secure their place in Caledonia League Division 1.

Two wins out of their three outstanding fixtures, all at home, would almost certainly preserve their place in the North Conference.

But head coach Cameron Boyd has challenged his men to win all three to finish the campaign on a high, unbeaten in the league at Millbank.

The Greens currently sit third from bottom but Ross Sutherland and North Police could both jump above them were they to win their games in hand.

Boyd said: “We have three games left and they probably all are in the must-win category if we want to be 100 per cent certain about staying up.

“Is Saturday’s an absolute must-win? Maybe not, but it would certainly make life a hell of a lot easier for us.”

He added: “We’re looking to maintain our 100 per cent home record in the league. Finishing the season unbeaten is our target, and starting that with a win over Ellon would be massive.”

Boyd was due to oversee a video review session this week as part of his ongoing drive for his squad to perfect the style of rugby he is trying to promote.

“If we improve our performance levels within our game plan, I have every faith the results will come on the back of that.”

Ellon are desperate for a win to sustain their chase for a top-two place which would secure a spot in the promotion play-offs with the top two in the Midlands Conference.

The north-east outfit sit fourth but are just three points behind the leaders, Highland Seconds.

Long-time Caithness absentee Scott Webster has been doing some light training and is close to a return to action. That could be as early as Saturday.

His brother Douglas has recovered from a hip injury, while combative back-rower Lachlan Jardine could also return after an injury absence.

Flanker Duncan Mackay is away, while Reece Coghill is back on the casualty list recovering from a fractured fibula.

Boyd is keeping a close eye on the weather, with the wet outlook for the week not ideal for an already rain-soaked Millbank.

The match is due to kick off at 2pm.

Caithness Seconds, meanwhile, have an away date with Huntly in Caley North 3.
