Francis Street seal berth with victory over Comm 'A'.

THE Francis Street’s Willie Webster, Andrew Henderson, Ducker Harper, Richie Taylor and Chris Scott made sure of a swift return to the Wick and District Darts League’s first division, sealing their berth with a 7-1 win in Lybster against Comm "A".

The battle for second and a possible promotion place is going to the wire after Norseman "2" won against Brown Trout "2" – both of whom are vying for a step up.

Seaview "B" and Harper’s "B" shared the points with both teams having problems with players. The Mountain Dew also shared the points with the Smiddy Inn "2". Peter Geddes made his debut for the Thrumster side.

In the top division, Harper’s are just about there but with a narrow of wins against Blackstairs, 5-3. David Manson was the top performer for the visitors while Nicky Denoon, for the home side, completed a 14-dart leg followed by a 17 darter

Bottom-placed Queen’s Hotel got a win at the expense of the Norseman. Danny Hughes was the player of the match along with the ever-reliable Rab Edwards. Nevertheless it looks like the win has come too late. In the game which pitched Comm "B" against Seaview, the points were shared.

The Brown Trout beat a beleaguered-looking Camps outfit who have had a horrendous 2012 after such a promising start – after all they are the only side to have beaten league leaders Harper’s.

In the ladies’ section, Shelley Henderson’s Camps side finally got that elusive win, beating Harper’s 5-3. Jade Mcphee hit the winning double eight times.

Sheona Campbell hit a maximum in John O’Groats and the Francis Street Club now only need one more point to lift yet another title. Campbell now leads the maximum table with two, with three players on one apiece. Trish Mackay and Ann Wells, the current county champion, were the best as the Camps "2" homed in on second place after beating Queen’s 8-0. Nearest rivals Crown were held to a draw in Thrumster.

? There will be a bus going to the mixed pairs event in the Seaview Hotel, John O’Groats, on Saturday, March 17. Seats must be booked in advance.

This is a Wick and District Darts League event and, as usual, if there is an uneven number all players will be able to participate. Angus and Katherine Ross are the current holders.
