The competition next season will involve 12 Premiership B teams, each of the Championship, League One and League Two clubs and four clubs from each of the Scottish Highland and Scottish Lowland Leagues.

The first round will take place on Tuesday, August 10 and Wednesday, August 11.

Only Scottish teams will take part in the competition next season, with clubs from English National League, the League of Ireland, the Cymru Premier in Wales and the NIFL Premiership in Northern Ireland playing in previous years.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “We’re committed to making this the most community engaged competition in the tournament’s history. “Community trusts and associated SPFL clubs have risen to the challenge of supporting those in need.”
