THE Seaforth Club and Francis Street Club “1” secured their first two points of the season in Wick and District Pool League, both with 6-5 victories.

Seaforth Club hosted their rivals from the second division last year, the Queen’s.

In a keenly contested affair the teams could not be separated after the singles when it stood at 3-3.

Influential performances from Gary Macalpine and team captain Craig Durrand were the key factors in Seaforth Club’s win.

A fine performance from Graham Harper helped his FSC “1” side to victory in a close battle with Crown “1”.

Camps “2” remain undefeated after a narrow 6-5 win over their rivals Camps “1”.

The five-times division-one champions trailed 4-3 at one stage, but won three frames on the trot to clinch the two points.

Performance of the night was Iain Jones’s total clearance from the break.

Perry Campbell’s Blackstairs “1” side got their title challenge back on track with a fantastic 9-2 win over the Commercial.

After an impressive 8-3 win last Wednesday, Ryan Cook’s Blackstairs “2” team dropped their first match of the season, losing 6-5 to Bayview “1” in a close encounter.

Sinclair Bay look unstoppable in their quest to become second-division champions, winning 7-4 against Mountain Dew “2”. There were also impressive wins for Bayview “2” and FSC“2”.

Results – Division one: Seaforth Club 6, Queen’s 5; Camps “1” 5, Camps “2” 6; Blackstairs “1” 9, Commercial 2; Bayview “1” 6, Blackstairs “2” 5; FSC “1” 6, Crown “1” 5. Division two: Mountain Dew “1” 2, Bayview “2” 9; Sinclair Bay 7, Mountain Dew “2” 4; Crown “2” 4, FSC “2” 7.
