Thurso Golf Club had a fabulous turnout in glorious weather on Saturday for the Lenny Murray memorial competition.

The winning team, with a nett 55.8, consisted of Alan Mackenzie, Andrew Lannon and Michael Macgregor.

On Sunday Thurso hosted the county championship. Allan Craigie, playing off a handicap of 22, put in a superb performance, shooting 10 pars to lift the championship with a nett 62.

The scratch champion was Tyler Gordon with a 73. Gordon reached the turn in one over par and an excellent birdie at 12 set him up nicely.

Three bogeys on the trot were offset by another birdie at 17 and this was enough to see him crowned as county champion.

Iain Dunnett won the sixth round of Thurso's A&A Mackay Builders Summer League with 39 points.

Dunnett had five threes on his card with only one at the par threes. After a sticky start he played the last 13 holes in one under par.

Chris Sinclair was second with 38 points, one ahead of Ross Williamson. Derek Stanley, Graeme Henderson and Steve Spargo all had 36 points.
