Keiss Football Club held their end-of-season awards night in the Norseman Hotel in Wick after a successful summer in which they became county league second division champions.

Ken Wood and his wife Margaret were invited by the club as guests and to present the players with their awards.

Ken was a long-serving secretary of Caithness Amateur Football Association who was also part of the Highland executive of the Scottish Amateur Football Association for many years.

Ken was CAFA secretary when Keiss won their only other Division Two title in 1994. Margaret was on hand to present the then Keiss captain, Willie Mackay, with their league trophy 30 years ago and did the honours of presenting the individual players’ awards for 2024 alongside her husband.

In a social media post, Keiss FC said: “A big thank -you from the club to all personnel who throughout the year put in a great effort to make sure that everything ran smoothly.”

The team won nine and lost three of their 12 Division Two matches, scoring 44 goals and conceding 14 – finishing two points clear of second-placed Thurso Swifts. Keiss were runners-up in the Steven Cup.
