It was a weekend to remember for Steve Efemey who topped the standings in both gents' competitions held at Reay in the November sunshine.

On Saturday players were competing in round two of the Winter Eclectic, and Efemey posted a fantastic round of 75 for nett 64 to take the win on the day. Birdies at the 11th and 18th holes will also have helped in his quest for overall eclectic glory.

Wayne Mowat produced a steady round of 75 for nett 66 and second place on countback ahead of Andy Bain, who birdied the first hole on his way to a round of 73, also for nett 66.

Willie Paton claimed fourth place on nett 67, and Ian Ross birdied the 14th to finish on nett 68 in fifth place.

Three players – Fred Groves, Colin Munro and Lee Parnell – finished on nett 69. Parnell had the distinction of carding the lowest gross score of the day with his 72.

In the overall eclectic standings Efemey leads the way on nett 66, ahead of Andy Bain on 67 and Dave Snashall on 68.

On Sunday, Efemey produced a barrage of birdies at the second, 13th, 14th and 15th holes to win round six of the Winter League Stableford with an impressive 42 points.

Graeme Fryett showed some excellent form to finish second place on countback after he also scored 42 points.

Bruce Mackay birdied the 15th on his way to 38 points, a tally matched by Cammie Ross, who managed birdies at the fourth and sixth holes during his round.

Martin Bain finished a point further back on 37, with a birdie at the sixth providing the highlight of his round, while Evan Sutherland managed a hat-trick of birdies at the fourth, 12th, and 13th on his way to a matching tally of 37.

The ladies were competing for the November Medal and Alison Ross made a welcome return to the top of the leaderboard after a fine round of 98 for nett 74, with a birdie at the short 15th proving decisive in the final analysis.

Carole Cameron bagged a birdie of the own at the 13th hole on her way to a round of 94 for nett 75 and second place. Sarah Meiklejohn birdied the seventh during a round of 89 for nett 75, which was good enough for third, while Pam Bain finished fourth on countback after she also posted a round of nett 75.

In the Seniors' Stableford competition it was Pete McCartney who finished top of the standings on 40 points, helped along the way by a birdie at the 12th hole. Kenny Farmer Snr maintained his fine recent form to finish in second place on 38 points, with Alistair Gunn taking third place on 36.

Four players – Malcolm Thomson, Colin Struthers, John Disbury and Dave Snashall – shared fourth place on 35 points.

This weekend will see teams competing in the Yellow Ball competition on Saturday, and the club hosts its annual prize-giving dinner on Saturday evening.
