Dressage proves popular at Caithness Riding Club

Dressage was the theme for the latest round of events held by Caithness Riding Club at the indoor riding school in Halkirk.
On the Saturday a number of riders took up the chance to have one-to-one or semi-private dressage improvement sessions with Kimberley Battleday from Fortrose.
The following day saw a very good turnout for the January dressage league competition, judged by Kimberley.
Winning both the senior preliminary tests was Russell Skelton, riding his cob Riley. This unbeatable partnership secured the highest percentage of the day – 70.6. In the junior section Liam Mackenzie, riding Stroma, won both his prelim classes and he also reached the 70s in one of his tests.
Both intro classes were won by Carrie Wilson, the first on her mum's horse Champagne Lady and the other on her new young horse Cloontuskert Susan's Lad.
Taking the top spot in the Novice 28 senior test was Meghan Blackwood with Bob on a percentage of 69.3, while the Novice 30 and Elementary 44 were both won by Frances Sutherland, riding Cosmo. The junior novice tests were both won by Rowan Lee.
